Questions and answers

How much does a tyre fitter earn in Norway?
Wheel changing and tyre storage are covered by a legal minimum wage. From 15 June 2026 it is NOK 208 per hour for unskilled workers aged 18 or over and NOK 223.50 per hour for newly qualified skilled workers with a trade certificate. After one year of experience, the minimum is NOK 212 for unskilled workers and NOK 237 for skilled workers. Overtime pays at least 40% extra, and you get holiday pay of at least 10.2%. Your exact pay will be set out in your contract.
Who will be my employer?
It depends on the assignment: either the workshop where you will work or CK Consult AS. Your contract will state this clearly.
Can I apply without experience?
We give priority to applicants with tyre or workshop experience. If you have little experience, you can still apply and tell us what you have done.
Do I need to speak Norwegian?
No, but you need to speak some English. Some Norwegian is a plus.
How does tax work?
You need a Norwegian tax card. The first time, you must book an appointment and attend an ID check at a tax office, and you will then be given a D number (a Norwegian ID number for foreign nationals staying for a short time). If your D number is five years old or more, you must attend a new ID check. If you work in Norway for short periods, you will normally pay a flat 25% tax with no deductions under the PAYE scheme. We will help you apply for your tax card.
Do I need to register with the police?
As an EU/EEA citizen you can start working straight away. If you stay in Norway for more than three months, you must register with the police. It is free.
Do I need an HSE card (HMS-kort)?
Yes, if you work for a business approved for wheel changing and tyre storage. Your employer applies for the card for you.
Where will I live?
We help you find accommodation near your workplace. Ask about the cost and standard before you travel. Accommodation provided by an employer must meet Norwegian requirements, for example at least one shower and one toilet for every five people.
What if I get sick?
As a rule, you are a member of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme from your first working day and are entitled to necessary healthcare, usually subject to a user fee. You become entitled to sick pay after four weeks of work.
Does it cost anything to apply?
No. Applying is free, and you will never have to pay to get a job through us.
